Brent Nongbri, Before Religion, A History of a Modern Concept, Yale University Press, 2013, 39.95 Canadian Dollars.

Why I bought it: I was spending a day in Toronto. An ice storm delayed my connecting flight to Detroit. I walked into Ben McNally Books. I like the subject. Religions are among the subjects I think about most. I hope this book discusses questions like: Which aspect of what we do, and what we think, do we call "religion"? Is religion really different from what do, and what we think, in other areas of our lives? Western Buddhists sometimes argue over whether Buddhism is a philosophy or a religion. Is it a religion if God plays no role in it? Such discussions call for a clarification of the concept of religion. I am looking forward to it. The author's website is here.

My thoughts about it: I am still reading.
